Price of Honor | Part One

A broken bundle of letters was discovered in a knapsack within the New Ashen barracks. Some are clearly missing, the wax seal broken and left a scarlet smudge upon the parchment. Word has gone out that the peacekeepers superiors are looking to obtain the missing pages, and offer coin to those who do.

"Mother,

They posted me to the northern watchroad just outside of the Outlook. It is not grand work, but at least it’s honest. Better than catching the petty criminals in Little Ivywood snatching bread.

Captain Everdeen says the frontier is where good peacekeepers prove themselves warriors, where Arcvelt's peace rests on the shoulders of those willing to stand the cold and chase off the nasty beasts of Hullbeck Pike before they make it too close to Langham's.

I quite enjoy the men in my unit. We share stew, stories, and complaints about the wind cutting through our cloaks and into our armor. It feels… Real here. Not like parading the squares back home waiting for some poor soul to slip up.

Tell Father I’m doing proper work. I think he’d be proud.
